frozen in time

AHHHHH….well here goes nothing

A couple weeks back, there was new buzz going around…like there always is in the high school hallways. Come on people keep up. Anyways, this was a different buzz, the kind that everyone was talking about but didn’t know as much as they think they did. Then it really hit, all in the spam of two days, everyone collaborating waiting to soak in all the information as possible about.

COVID-19, yes ladies and gentlemen a virus that was started in China, in a lab. Although us over here partying in the U.S.A thought we were squeaky clean, saying “ppsshhh were fine it won’t come here everyone relax.” This virus started multiplying twice as fast, popping up all over the world all of a sudden we were quarantined and it was no longer China’s problem, this became a world wide virus that to this day and for months to come will keep infecting and being dangerous to humans of all ages.

When schools got cancelled, everyone was almost excited to be off for “a few days or weeks” we thought oh it won’t hurt us, we get to start Spring Break early!!!!!!!!

Well folks, sooner or later the news started to blow up with facts, numbers doubling every other day. Wanna know a secret about viruses, it keeps doing what it is created to do.

Multiply.

Our town itself has been through a lot from the Thomas Fire December of 2017 that spread all across the mountains of Santa Barbara County and even beyond, Montecito’s tragedy due to the Mudslides just months later on January 9th, a wet storm that unleashed mudslides that ravaged Montecito, killing 23 people, destroying 130 homes and causing hundreds of millions in damage. Now not only our town is in danger, but this is a world wide virus that almost every inch of our globe is dealing with.

Schools have transferred to online FaceTiming for continuous time to finish out the school year at home. Wether you’re a Senior in High School, or College, or your child just entered Elementary school, whatever gender, race, place you live or grade you’re in… we are all suffering through this right nowhere all missing how things were. Seniors won’t get to graduate from what some people call the best years of your life, or the Golden Years, but hey those same people also told you as you grow up life is going to throw things at you and you must learn to adapt. I have tried to think of this as a learning curve and we are going to grow from this, just like we have gotten through rough situations, our communities always bounce back, and we come back standing stronger than ever before. We all say we’ve been feeling lonely being quarantined and having a hard time social distancing. Well we’re all in the same boat. Me being who I am, I am a social butterfly and I enjoy being surrounded by people all the time, sure I like my alone time and white noise to myself at times, but certain people make me feel at home, and right now in this funky time everything just seems…well…off. I think we can all agree.
