guess who’s home

Due to unfortunate events happening around the world right now, as we are all aware. There is a virus, or disease spreading. Due to the coronavirus, this has driven my brother to come home from college up in Seattle Washington. Although, we have been making the most out of it by spending time together as Ryan has been missing certain spots in our town, so we decided to visit some of the most iconic spots. This led us to, the butterfly wall, the back streets of Montecito, Gibraltar, some of our favorite restaurants, (where Ryan can order the biggest and most pricey steak you can imagine) Ryan has been stoked to come home and reunite with his friends, he gets to do school online so he can keep up, but stay away from the toxic areas he was nearby up in Seattle. Ryan especially loves coming home to his own room, and and home cooked meals. Our family has gotten some time with him, and so has his friends which is always nice we can all agree.

On another note, this past weekend was packed with great moments, starting with building up to the weekend me and my dance studio have been getting ready for a big show we put on every year, Configuration. This event takes place at Center Stage Theater above CPK downtown Santa Barbara. Where all company members perform dances within each company, about 7-10 dancers per company. Then, the last number of the show is all company members and one big party on stage, side note this year’s theme is decades so our ending production number is all genres of music and 5 different groups intermediate to advance have a genre they perform a dance to and then all strings together into the last ending piece where we all come on stage in neon 80s workout costumes.

This week was all about getting prepared for the three shows we had coming for us, two night shows and two during the day. Center Stage is a small venue and because of that all of our shows sell out, an intimate group but the energy is always high and once the night is complete no one is left without a smile on their face. We also have a HUGE class graduating, there are almost twenty seniors we are sending off this year and this will lead us into the next generation of Dance Arts. We all of this time of the year, but also it gets quite emotional and bumpy along the way, but what doesn’t!

Therefore, this coming weekend will be the last weekend of Configuration and we will start to prepare for our next and final show in May at The Marjorie Luke Theater at Santa Barbara Junior High to finish the year off as a whole. I can’t wait to share the stage with my friends and do what we love together.

Stay tuned for my next post to see how our last weekend went!
